Organized by Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM), the play “Küçük Balkon” was staged at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in Bakırköy campus Ataköy building on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 20:00. In the play written and directed by Can Kılcıoğlu, Vildan Atasever, Nazlı Senem Ünal and Deniz Karaoğlu received great appreciation from the audience with their performances.

What began as a story of a two-person relationship changed direction with the sudden arrival of the “older sister” and turned into a powerful older sister- younger sister confrontation and a profound story of sisterhood. The story takes place in the living room of an unfinished house, and as the covers on the furniture are lifted, the characters' repressed emotions and unspoken pasts come to light one by one. This striking narrative, intertwined with situations that sometimes made the audience laugh and sometimes think, caused the audience to experience different emotions. The play, which was designed in one act, established an effective bond with the audience and ended with intense applause.

The 1st Executive Committee Meeting of IKUANTS TEKMER, which operates within Istanbul Kültür University and was supported by KOSGEB on 15.09.2024, was held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

The meeting was attended by Executive Committee members: KOSGEB İkitelli Manager Selim Serkan Ercan, IKUANTS TEKMER Vice Chairperson Cüneyt Genç, Head of Department of Computer Engineering Prof. Dr. Akhan Akbulut, Head of Department of Entrepreneurship & IKUANTS TEKMER Board Member Assist. Prof. Artür Yetvart Mumcu, Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering Assist. Prof. Zeynep Gergin, and Ahmet Gökhan Uluçay, Deputy Head of Information Systems and Technologies Department.

At the meeting, technology-based innovative startup ideas that wanted to take part in TEKMER were evaluated in detail and the startups that were deemed worthy of support in the first stage were selected and included in the TEKMER ecosystem.

IKUANTS TEKMER, which supports the development of technology and innovation-oriented initiatives, will continue to add value to the entrepreneurship ecosystem by providing consultancy, mentoring, training and infrastructure services to entrepreneurs.

We congratulate our entrepreneurs accepted to TEKMER and wish them continued success.

The social responsibility project implemented in cooperation with Bahçelievler Municipality Family Support Unit and Istanbul Kültür University Program of Fashion Design students, turned into a meaningful surprise before the holiday.

Within the scope of the project, the heroes dreamed of by 20 children in need, identified by Bahçelievler Municipality, were brought to life on clothes. The clothes that reached the municipality through donations were redesigned by Istanbul Kültür University Program of Fashion Design students in accordance with the heroes that children love.

On Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 16.00 at the Bahçelievler Family Support Unit Shopping Building, 20 children experienced the joy of meeting with the clothes associated with their heroes.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özer, Director of Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School, attended the event and shared the happiness of both students and children.

This meaningful project, which supported children’s imagination and strengthened their sense of solidarity, set an example for both social sensitivity and the creativity of young designers.

Within the scope of the GameTalks events organized by the Department of Digital Game Design, our students came together with Lecturer Onur Kalkan from Bahçeşehir University on Monday, April 7, at 10.00. In his speech titled “Introduction to Game Engines”, Kalkan shared the differences between various game engines, which engine should be preferred in which situations, and how projects can be tracked more efficiently with version control systems. The speech, which comparatively discussed the strengths and usage areas of popular game engines, attracted great interest from the students. At the end of the event, students participated in a pleasant conversation where they had the opportunity to ask questions and share their own experiences.

In cooperation with IKUANTS TEKMER, IKU Technology Transfer Office (TTO), and CPA International Turkey, a seminar titled “TEKMER Incentives” was organized online on Monday, April 7, 2025. In the seminar, which addressed the support and incentive mechanisms provided to companies operating under TEKMER within the scope of Law No. 5746, detailed information was provided on the scope of government support contributing to the financial sustainability of R&D and innovation-oriented ventures, application processes, accounting implications, and the effective use of incentives.

The four “TÜBİTAK 2209-A” project applications, which our students and advisors from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBIGEN) participated in, have been granted support within the scope of the first semester of 2024.

Our Head of the Program of Flight Operations Management at Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School, Lecturer Evren Yılmaz, gave a seminar titled "Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV)" to the students of the Department of Transportation Services at Mehmet Emin Horoz Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School.

In the seminar held on Wednesday, April 9, comprehensive information was shared on the basic working principles of unmanned aerial vehicles, their areas of use, their place in civil aviation, and future development potential. In the event, which attracted great interest from students, sectoral experiences and career opportunities were also discussed.

Within the scope of the “GameTalks” events organized by the Department of Digital Game Design, researcher Beril Toper and urban planner Berra Güzeller met with our students on Thursday, March 27. Beril Toper presented “Games as Cultural Heritage: Shaping and Transferring Culture through Play,” in which she discussed the function of cultural heritage in games and how they carry the past to the present. Berra Güzeller gave a talk titled “Urban Play and Pervasive Games: Redesigning Streets for Play,” in which she explained how urban spaces transform into interactive playgrounds and encourage creativity and social interaction. Students who took part in the event also had the opportunity to participate in a conversation where they shared their experiences.

In the art symposium titled "In Pursuit of Time" held by the Siyah Lale Hotel in Balıkesir-Cunda between April 6-11, 2025, the paintings made by 6 artists in the hotel were exhibited.
5 works by our Head of the Department of Art and Culture Management & Painter Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ are on permanent display in the hotel.

Our fourth-year the student of the Department of English Language and Literature Sude Aksoy was granted support under the TÜBİTAK 2209-A: University Student Research Projects Support Program with her project titled “An Eco-Critical Analysis of Percy B. Shelley’s The Masque of Anarchy.”

We congratulate our student Sude Aksoy, who will conduct her work under the supervision of Res. Asst. Murat Kabak, and wish her continued success.

As part of the "GameTalks" events organized by the Department of Digital Game Design, the event titled "Game Talks: Intro to FRP" focused on tabletop role-playing games and met with participants on Thursday, April 10. In the event, where Airties Research Director Mehmet Şükrü Kuran was a speaker, the basic dynamics, narrative structures and player interactions of Fantasy Role Playing (FRP) games were discussed in detail. Participants had the opportunity to learn how FRP systems work, player roles and the duties of the gamemaster (GM) within a theoretical framework. The event provided a comprehensive look at the cultural and creative potential of tabletop role-playing games.

The "BAF CONTROL & ACOUST-IT Presentation" event will be held in cooperation with the Interior Architecture and Design Club and BAF CONTROL (Building Acoustics & Fire Control) on Monday, April 14, between 09:00-13:00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center. At the event, BAF CONTROL will present on acoustics and noise control, while ACOUST-IT will present on how acoustics can be integrated into the design phase of interior architecture projects.

A talk titled "The Invisible Side of the Apron: On Ground Services with the General Manager" will be organized by the Vocational School to convey the functioning of ground handling companies to students. The event, where HAVAŞ General Manager Mete Erna and HAVAŞ Human Resources and Training Specialist Nazlı Birdal will be speakers, will take place on Monday, April 14, at 11:00 in the 1A-01 amphitheatre in the İncirli building of the Bakırköy campus.

The Cultural Values Protection Club will organize a "Professional Talks for Lawyers" event to enhance the professional knowledge of Faculty of Law students. The event, where Tekirdağ Malkara 2nd Civil Court of First Instance Judge Metin Ertarman and Mersin Public Prosecutor Baran Gilgil will be speakers, will take place on Monday, April 14, at 12:30 in the Fahamettin Akıngüç amphitheatre on the 7th floor of the Bahçelievler campus.

In cooperation with the Program of Logistics and the Logistics Club, a talk titled "Leadership and Management" will be held to inform students about leadership and management. The event, where Leadership School Founder Dr. Erkut Ergenç will be the speaker, will be held on Monday, April 14, at 13:00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

The "Speaking Club" event will be organized in cooperation with the Kültür Point of the Dean of Students Office and the English Language Teaching Club to provide language practice with instructors for students who want to improve their English-speaking skills. The event will be held on Monday, April 14, between 17:00-19:00 in the multi-purpose conference hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

The Department of English Language and Literature will organize an event titled ViaTalks2025 "Music and Literature: Music in Shakespeare Across Disciplines" to enable students to explore the intersection of music and literature. The event, where Assoc. Prof. Fatma Zeynep Bilge from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and Mustafa Avcı from Koç University will be speakers, will be held on Tuesday, April 15, at 14:00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

The Kültür Point of the Dean of Students Office will organize an event titled “HR and Interview Simulation: Are You Ready for the Future?” to provide 3rd and 4th year students with knowledge and experience on human resources processes, expectations in the business world and interview techniques. The event, where Human Resources Specialist Tuğçe Kirmanoğlu Altuntaş will be a speaker, will be held on Tuesday, April 15, at 15.00 in the 3rd floor multi-purpose hall at the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

In cooperation with the IKU Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Dean of Students Kültür Point, IKUANTS TEKMER, Marmara Technopolis and IDEA Incubation, a competition titled “Sustainability Spark-25” will be held on Wednesday, April 16 at 9:00 in INNside at the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building. Surprise gifts and participation certificates will be given to the teams ranked by the jury.

To support the career planning processes of students, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering will organize a technical trip to Özdisan Elektronik Paz. San. and Tic. A.Ş. on Wednesday, April 16.

The Animal Protection and Sustenance Club will organize a donation bazaar on Wednesday, April 16 between 09.00-18.00 on floor B1 of the Bakırköy campus, Ataköy building, to support the clinical and nutritional needs of our little friends on our campuses.

The “IKU Career Days 25” event will be organized by the Dean of Students Office, Kültür Point, to help students achieve their career goals. At the event, which will be held on April 16–17, 2025, between 10:00–17:00 in the backyard of the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building, our students will have the opportunity to network and find job opportunities by meeting with companies that are pioneers in their fields.

The Faculty of Art and Design will bring together the organizers of the “Sanataevet Festival," which has been held for years, with our students this year. The symposium, where talks will be held on the current situation of art and art management in Türkiye, will be held on Wednesday, April 16 at 15.00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall at the Bakırköy Campus Ataköy Building.

Organized in cooperation with Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) and Trakya Ancient Turkish Culture and History Society, the exhibition titled “Breezes from the Steppe from Past to Present: Kagans, Tigins, Konchuys” will be opened on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 15.00 at IKU Art Gallery. The exhibition can be visited until May 7,2025, at the IKU Art Gallery in the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of International Trade and Finance will visit the AGORA FINTECH Fair that will be held at the Istanbul Expo Center between April 17-19 within the scope of “Financial Management” and “Financial Literacy” courses. As part of the visit, accompanied by Assist. Prof. Didem Kayalıdereden, our students will have the opportunity to come together with many technology-finance institutions and professionals from Türkiye and abroad.

IKU Creativity Club will organize a “Creativity Workshop” event to bring together students interested in advertising and marketing with industry professionals. The event, where Ezgi Yağcı, Oğuzhan Şen, and Ufuk Özgül from Jupiter Agency will be speakers, will be held on Thursday, April 17 at 11.00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.

In cooperation with IKU Young Office and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, “Ecological Literacy Training” will be organized to inform the participants about the psychological effects of the climate crisis and ecological anxiety. The training which will be instructed by Assist. Prof. Meryem Demir Güdül, one of our academicians from the Department of Educational Sciences, will be held on Thursday, April 17 at 14.00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.

IKU Cultural Values Protection Club will organize a “Parliament Simulation” event between April 18-22 (between 10.00-18.00) in order to inform students about legislative activities. The event will be held on April 18, 21, and 22 at the venue provided by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and on April 19 and 20 at the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.

The Vocational School will organize a panel titled “Brand 5.0: Digitalization, Sustainability and Employer-Focused Branding”, where concepts such as digital transformation, sustainability and employer branding will be discussed. Serdar Köseoğlu, Head of Sales Management & e-Commerce Unit at Mercedes-Benz, Mete Erna, General Manager of HAVAŞ, and Alim Küçükpehlivan, Chairman of the Board of Başarsoft, will be the guest speakers at the event which will be held on Friday, April 18, at 10.00 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Centre in the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus. 

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering will organize a technical trip to DEKA Elektronik A.Ş. on Friday, April 18 to enhance student-industry cooperation.

In cooperation with the Kültür Point Dean of Students Office and the English Language Teaching Club, a “Speaking Club” event will be organized for students, who want to improve their English language speaking skills, to practice with instructors. The event will be held on Friday, April 18, between 17.00-19.00 at the multi-purpose conference hall in the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.
