The 5th Congress of Turkish-Arab University Rectors, held at Al-Manar University in Tunisia from October 10-11, 2025, in collaboration with the Union of Arab Universities and the Eurasian University Union. The President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar  also participated. Our university was represented by our Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil, and Levent Ersezgin, a specialist in our International Office at the subsequent Turkish Universities Promotion Fair on October 12, 2025.

Academics of Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) continue to achieve remarkable success by taking part in international research networks organized under the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) framework.

Our Chair of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver, and our Rector, Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, visited Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, who was reappointed as the President of the Council of Higher Education, to extend their congratulations and best wishes for his new term in office.

Students of Istanbul Kültür University (IKU), under the umbrella of the IEEE IKU Student Club, achieved remarkable success at TEKNOFEST 2025, one of Türkiye’s most prestigious technology and innovation platforms.

Competing against thousands of teams, ten IKU teams advanced to the finals, showcasing their creativity and engineering skills. Our students proudly represented our university by demonstrating their technical expertise, innovative approaches, and team spirit through the projects they developed over months of intensive preparation.

Istanbul Kültür University Art Gallery (IKUSAG) opened the 2025-2026 season with the exhibition titled “A Portrait of an Art Enthusiast: A Selection from the IKU Akıngüç Collection.”

Emeritus Prof. Dr. Atilla Ertan, who has contributed to valuable research for many years at the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School, former director of the Houston Digestive Health Institute, and recognized as one of the top 10 gastroenterologists in the world, visited our university. He met with our Board of Trustees Chair Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver, Vice Chair Ful Akıngüç, and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız, along with the academics from the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The Student Dean's Office of Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) organized an "Orientation Program" from September 15-18, 2025, at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus, to provide a warm welcome to the new students joining the IKU family for the 2025-2026 Academic Year, introduce the university and its staff, which will be a part of the students' lives throughout their higher education journey, and make their first days at the university inspiring and guiding.

Prof. Dr. Turgut Uzel, a faculty member of the Department of Civil Engineering at our Faculty of Engineering, has been granted a patent for his work titled “A Method for Calculating Plate Movements in Regions Surrounded by Faults” with application number 2023/001154.

This method, which will contribute to more accurate calculations of plate movements in earthquake-prone regions, is considered a significant innovation in the field of engineering.

Prof. Dr. Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil, Vice Rector of Istanbul Kültür University and IKU SÜRKAM Coordinator, has represented Türkiye as a Researcher/Author in the Global Food Systems and Sustainable Development Report.

The project, which will be carried out in three stages over a period of three years, is led by the Shiology Research Center of Renmin University of China and the World Shiology Forum.
